‘Weaves of India and Sustainable Fashion’- International Student Enrichment Programme

As part of the International Student Enrichment Programme organized by Teresian International in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, UK, the Department of Fashion Designing organized an interactive session on ‘Weaves of India and Sustainable Fashion’ from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on 11th July 2022. The session included a live informative presentation and display of various traditional weaves, indigenous saree drapes designed in an innovative ready-to-wear style by the students, and surface adornments of the different states of India. A ramp walk by the students displaying the various traditional saree drapes and other indigenous attires was well appreciated by the team.

The major giveaway of the session was the activities organized for the team of students and a mentor who visited the campus by the students of the Department of Fashion Designing. A block printing activity included assisting the visiting team to create wooden block prints of their choice on tote bags stitched by the students of the department themselves. The students also set up a ‘Mehendi corner’ and put beautiful mehendi designs for the team and also draped sarees for them which was a very interactive and fun activity for all.
