VISIT TO KERALA FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE, PEECHI

The Department of Zoology of St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam organized a One day Field trip to Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Peechi, in Thrissur District on 28 th June 2019 for the Ist PG students.  The Students were accompanied by three Faculty members of the Department -Dr. Helvin Vincent, Dr. Sherin Antony and Ms. Cynthia Mathew Thaliath.  The  Kerala Forest Research institute is having a specialized sector for Entomology, or for the study of insects. ‘Butterfly garden’ is a greater initiative put forward by the institute for the natural conservation of the species. An exclusive insect preservation room with more than 40,000 insects with wide variety of insect species is proving a chance to study about them in detail.  Students were fortunate to visit the other departments like, Wildlife Museum, Tissue culture Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Soil Museum, Socio – economic sector etc. This visit was truly inspiring and knowledgeable for the Students.
