Kudos to the students of the Department of French for bringing the joys of ‘La fête de l’Epiphanie’- Epiphany- successfully to the campus! Yes, this year too, even during these testing times of the pandemic the Department did not miss its Queen or its fun.

The online event was conducted on 22nd January 2021. The host for the day was Ms. Delphina Jose. The event started with a welcome speech by Ms. Rhea Solomon. After the speech were two different presentations on Epiphanie, one in French and the other in English. These were prepared by Ms. Josepheena Scaria and Ms. Ima Margeret respectively. Through their speech they provided insight on various traditions and customs associated with this celebration like the Three King Cake. After this, Ms. Fadette Badie d’Arcis, the Foreign Faculty of the Department shared her experiences of the Epiphany celebrations in France. When the French tongue- twister games by Ms. Sapna Jaleel began, the ambience was filled with cheers and laughter. Everyone practiced their tongue twisters behind the screens and presented them later with utmost perfection in the meeting.

The most awaited was the result of the Crown Making competition which was conducted in connection with Epiphany. As all the entries were equally creative and competent it was difficult to pick out one winner from the many. But the one that stood out most was the elegant design by Ms. Rhea Solomon who was chosen as the winner of winners. This year though the limitations of an online meeting provided little scope for the figurine to be hidden in the cake, the innovative students found truly appreciable ways to choose, La Reine, our Queen online. Through an online page with the hidden lucky number as the figurine, Ms. Ann Mary M was chosen as the queen for the day. The online function came to a close with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nishika Pal. All in all, the event proved itself to be an exciting and a profitable experience.
