State Wise Assignment 2018- PG Diploma In Fashion Designing

The Department conducted State Wise Assignment of PG Diploma in Fashion Designing final year students on 27th and 28th of June 2018. The students created the ambiance of the states Manipur and Punjab.

 

       

This assignment helps students to understand the culture of different parts of India. This is an opportunity for the students to develop their talents. The students designed certain dresses as well as costumes and hairstyles to bring the ambiance of various states.

Traditional Dresses Of Manipur And Punjab

The traditional dresses of Manipuri people are simple and easy to wear. The costume for women has 3 parts. A shawl named Innaphi, A phanek and a wrap around the skirt called as Sarong are used by women. The men use dhothi, jacket, and a white Pagri or turban.

The traditional dresses from Punjab got changes in the recent years. The Men used to wear kurta and tehmat now replaced to kurta and pajama. For women earlier days they used to wear Punjabi ghagra and now uses salwar suits.

All type of costumes that we see in various places of India contains elements of traditional values as well as religious beliefs. This activity helped the students to learn more about various dress styles all around India.
