The Department of English of St. Teresa’s College hosted a one day National workshop on Gender and Theatre in India on August 4, 2018. It was lead by a versatile scholar in the field, Mr. Benil Biswas, assistant professor of Ambedkar University, Delhi. The purpose of the workshop was to hold a session wherein students would get a bird’s eye view of Indian theatre and the influence of gender in the field. The versatile speaker aided the talk with excerpts from Indian theatrical performances and contemporary advertisements. The talk was elucidative for the English Literature students who work on academic papers like Film studies, Gender studies and Text and Performances.
The students had a provocative discussion post the talk. It left them eager for a more practical version of the same in the next collaboration.
