This year, in the Department of French, we celebrated the National Reading Day 2022 following the theme “Read and Grow” with our 3rd year BA French students presenting and answering their peers’ questions about “A Book that made you Grow“.
Diya Mary Joshi, Fathima Harsha, Kavya Dev S., and Sreemuthulakshmi M showed their passion about one specific book that changed the way they see the world around them. As we also observe the National Reading/ Digital Reading Month, Fathima Harsha leaded a debate about traditional paper books, E-books, and audio books.
Students also had the opportunity to see the collection of books displayed in Arts Blocks.
Honouring the father of the Library Movement, the late P.N. Panicker, 19th June is being celebrated as Reading Day and the following week as the Reading Week. Started as a Reading Day Celebration on 19th June 1996, it has become a mass movement to promote the culture of reading. The habit of reading should be developed in everyone because reading not only increases our knowledge but also makes the individual pacific, concentrated and patient.
National Reading Day is also known as Vaayanadinam and this name has been given by the Government of Kerala.

Let’s keep reading!!!!
