Conducted Short Film Exhibition Based on Mother Tongue day– 60 Thikanja Malayalam & Ezhuthachan.

International Mother Tongue Day is a multinational annual celebration held on February 21. This promotes cultural diversity and awareness of grammatical and also promotes multilingualism. It was first announced by UNESCO on 1999 November 17

In the beginning, the word ‘Malayalam’ may have been a local dialect. The first part of the word ‘Malayalam’, ie, ‘Mala’ is referred to the hill and the last word ‘Alam’ to the depths of the ocean (‘Alam’ over the years transformed to Azham’ meaning ‘depths’). So the ‘Malayalam’ may refer to the land lying between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats. If that be so, Malayalam refers to a hilly region.
