Teresian International also organised an international symposium in the afternoon on the joint venture research project “The Evaluation of Kerala Model Relief Centres: Integrating a Gender Sensitive Disaster Management Plan” in collaboration with Sophia University, Japan, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Essex, UK. The Symposium was inaugurated by Sri S. Suhas IAS, the District collector of Ernakulam who also delivered the key note address. The symposium provided a platform for the presentation and discussion of the joint venture research project, the findings of which were presented by the principal investigator Dr.Nirmala Padmanabhan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics. Ms. Shereen Sheriff, Assistant Professor, department of History presented a paper on the title ” Analyzing Volunteer Ethnography: Evaluating Kerala Model Relief Camps for a Gender Sensitive Disaster Management Plan”. Professor, Guangwei Huang spoke on “Disaster Management in Japan” and Professor Keiko Hirao presented a paper on “Gender and Relief Camps “.The camp managers who headed the relief camps during the recent floods were honoured for their selfless service and commitment at the function.
