HOPE – Helping Others to Promote Education

Need of the Activity:

As per the statistical records, 1% of the total students appearing for the SSLC in Kerala fail to complete their minimum educational qualification. Discontinuity and failure in exams affect the student’s confidence level for the success of life. These students are thrown out into the darkness of the society. When analysing the backgrounds of antisocialists, lack of minimum education is a major factor. By this new project we can bring back those failed students to the main stream of society.

Brief Description:

In association with Kerala Police, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of St.Teresa’s College(Autonomous) Ernakulam, introduced the project “Helping Others to Promote Education [HOPE] – The Foundation of Life”, offering a helping hand to bring up the education of students who fail to complete their SSLC exams due to various circumstances in their lives.

The official inauguration was held on 30th November 2020. Police officers, teachers from different schools, students and their parents were a part of the auspicious occasion.

ASP Suresh Kumar led the meeting. The session was officially inaugurated by K Karthik IPS, District Police Chief. The programme was felicitated by Dr.Susan Mathew Panakkal, HOD of Mathematics and Smt. Dhanalakshmi O.M, TROP Coordinator. The session was ended by Vote of Thanks by SI Gills T R, Administrator of Project Hope, Ernakulam Rural.

By the project we provide clear and simple live sessions explaining various topics of 10th standard. It motivates and helps them to identify the way to achieve their dreams, like other students. This project aims at emotional, intellectual and social development of a student.

Outcomes:

By Helping Others to Promote Education [HOPE] Project, the students get the confidence to reappear for the exams once they failed. The realization of those students that the failure in one exam is not the end of overall education is a major achievement of this project. The slow pace of teaching benefits the slow learners too. The students and their parents understand the value of education and its necessity for acquiring a bright future in their lives.

Through such a project, the students of our college get an opportunity to improve their various skills in teaching, thus developing their personality. They achieve confidence, interpersonal skills, communication skills etc.
