Community Nutrition Awareness Programme on Non- communicable diseases 2019

Target Group: Adult Population

The students of the  Masters second year Clinical  Nutrition and Dietetics along with Ms. L. R .Rajani   provided Community Nutrition awareness programme to the home makers of thevara grama panchayat  . The camp  mainly  focused on providing  awareness on dietary management of non-communicable diseases especially  obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis,   and hypertension. Talks were provided by the student dietitians based on these topics. They conducted a skit on the relevant topic “Anaemia  ” the skit was very informative and helped them  to understand about the importance of proper nutrition to prevent anaemia . Informative charts on nutrition and wellness were put up and explained to the participants. Health assessment based on anthropometry; ie., height, weight and BMI, blood pressure monitoring and random blood glucose level detection was done as part of the programme under the guidance of a medical practitioner. Students also demonstrated iron and calcium rich recipes to prevent anaemia
