An Orientation On Entrepreneurship ‘Give Jobs Vs Get Jobs’

The Department of Zoology of St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous) Ernakulam, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) organized an orientation on Entrepreneurship ‘Give Jobs vs Get Jobs’ on 30th November 2020. The webinar focused to provide the students with an orientation on entrepreneurship. It describes the various aspects of beginning a start-up and was conducted virtually through the Google meet platform. Eighty five Students of II & III DC, I & II PG Zoology attended the webinar.

The meeting started at 2:00 PM. Meeting invoking the blessings of the Lord with a prayer song by Miss Amitha Antony of II PG Zoology. Dr. Helvin Vincent, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology delivered the welcome address and introduced the key speaker of the day, Dr. Beena P.S, PI and Director, Omics Gen Life Sciences, Kalamassery.

Being an accomplished Entrepreneur herself, Dr. Beena shared with the students her inspiring journey from working at a publishing company. Dr.Beena was the Director of a reputed private lab and an Entrepreneur of a company. She introduced the concept of start-up to the students and pointed out the endless opportunities that requires exploration and innovation. She explained that every subject has a scope, opportunity and encouraged the students. It tends the students to introspect and find what excites or comforts them and to pursue it whole heartedly. Moreover, in this changing scenario where the job seekers have turned to being job providers, that tends to the talk was both intriguing and beneficial to the students.

The participants asked various queries about regarding the essentials and funding of Start-ups, where in interactive session that held the end of the lecture. The webinar concluded by 3:00 PM with a formal vote of thanks by Sandra George of II PG Zoology.
