TOURISM CLUB

With an intention to promote tourism in the state of Kerala, Government of Kerala proposed that schools and colleges should form tourism clubs in the respective institutions.  There should be a teacher coordinator and a student secretary with 75 members in the club.  As per the recommendation, a tourism club was formed in St. Teresa’s college in the year 2002. The club has named as ‘Evergreen Tourism Club’ from the year 2008-09.

In the year 2011 January a project proposal on the tourist destination Vallarpadam submitted by the Evergreen tourism club has been sanctioned by DTPC, Ernakulam and a financial assistance of Rs 1500/- approved for the same.  The project got completed and the report was submitted to DTPC.  A paper presentation of Vintage Vallarapadam has made in District Tourism Camp held at Piravom.

Every year as part of the world tourism day celebrations the club conduct various competitions like Essay writing, Logo Designing, My Shot, Quiz, Painting and Poster Designing. Apart from the competitions the club organizes Orientation programmes, Field visit to an unknown destination for a day and Seminar sessions by eminent persons from tourism and hospitality industry.  Tourism club has helped to cultivate a right attitude towards tourism among the students.  Since it is a field with immense job opportunities, students are very enthusiastic and are genuinely interested to participate in the activities of the tourism club.
