MASTER’S PROGRAMME IN CLINICAL NUTRITION AND DIETETICS

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE:

The programme intends to produce competitive Dieticians and Nutritionists in various relevant fields

including public health service. It equips the beneficiaries with latest knowledge in the respective science

and understands the wider horizons of nutrition. Registered Dieticians are indispensable providers of food

and nutrition services all over the world; keeping this in mind the syllabus provides speculative

knowledge for Registered Dietician examination

 Dieticians work in hospitals, nursing care facilities and other health care facilities and in

community.

 The students can opt for research career mainly in universities, public or private sector research

institutes, food product manufacturing companies and hospitals.

 Teaching the science of nutrition of dietetics in colleges and universities is also a good option.

 Professionals can become assistant, associate, or director of a dietetic department, or become

self-employed.

 Dieticians and nutritionists in neutraceutical companies and food industries.

 The students can appear for RD examination.

ELIGIBILITY:

Graduation in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science and Quality Control, Home Science, Family

and Community Science, Food Service Management and Dietetics or Degree holders of Zoology,

Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, BHMS, BAMS, B. Sc Nursing with PG Diploma in Clinical

Nutrition and Dietetics and any related subjects.

HIGHLIGHTS:

 The syllabus includes relevant courses which were identified as need of the hour like nutritional

pharmacology.

 The programme focuses on producing clinical professionals

 Inculcates the urge for research.

 Develop socially committed dieticians with the skill in dealing with the community.

 Basic Life Support practical session equips one with the knowledge and skills to handle an

emergency situation

 Awareness in Yoga helps to develop a holistic approach in dietetic profession

 RD internship

Semester I- Nutrition Through Life Cycle, Human Physiology, Nutritional Biochemistry, Research

Methodology and Biostatistics and Biochemical Analysis (Practical)

Semester II- Advanced Dietetics, Advanced Nutrition, Food Science and Technology, Nutrition in

Critical Care and Advanced Dietetics and Critical Care (Practical)

Semester III- Applied Nutrition, Hospital Management, Clinical Biochemistry, Nutritional

Pharmacology and Yoga and Basic Life Support (Practical)

Semester IV- Food Microbiology and Quality Control, Public Health Nutrition, Community Programme

(Practical), Elective, Thesis

After IV th Semester Registered Dietician Internship
