B.Sc. Mathematics

Course Structure of BSc. Mathematics The U.G. Programme in Mathematics include (a) Common courses, (b) Core courses, (c) Complementary Courses, (d) Open Courses and (e) Project and no course shall carry more than 4 credits. Open course may be offered in any subject and the student shall have the option to do courses offered by other departments/ or by the same department. Objectives : The syllabi are framed in such a way that it bridges the gap between the plus two and post graduate levels of Mathematics by providing a more complete and logic frame work in almost all areas of basic Mathematics. By the end of the second semester, the students will attaine a common level in basic Mathematics, a secure foundation in Mathematics and other relevant subjects to complement the core for their future courses. In the fourth semester, the student is introduced to powerful tools for tackling a wide range of topics in Calculus, Theory of Equations and Numerical methods. They are familiarised with additional relevant mathematical techniques and other relevant subjects to complement the core. By the end of sixth semester, the students cover a range of topics in almost all areas of Mathematics including Graph Theory, Programming in C, and had experience of independent works such as project, seminar etc. CORE COURSES include: Semester I Foundation of Mathematics Semester II Analytic Geometry ,Trigonometry and Matrices Semester III Calculus Semester IV Vector Calculus, Theory of Equations and Numerical Methods Semester V Mathematical Analysis Differential Equations Abstract Algebra Fuzzy mathematics Open course Semester VI Real Analysis Complex Analysis Discrete Mathematics Linear Algebra and Metric Spaces Choice Based Course Project Subsidiary Papers Subsidiary 1 – Physics Subsidiary 2 – Statistic
